When are appointments available?
Appointments are available Tuesday-Saturday, including early mornings and evenings.
What should I wear for my treatment?
If you are booked in for an injury assessment it is important that the area of the injury can be easily accessed. However, it may also be necessary to observe other body parts above or below the injury and also to observe your posture and movement patterns. For this reason, you may be asked to undress down to your underwear. All assessments and treatments are undertaken in a private room with only the client and myself present.
How many treatments will I need?
This depends on the extent of the problem. Some people will only require one to two treatments, whereas other cases may require a longer term approach. I always aim to explain the findings of the assessment to the client and to work together to establish a suitable treatment program.
Will I have exercises to do at home?
Again, this depends on the problem, although in most cases, daily exercises are prescribed. These may include stretches or strengthening exercises which you can do in your own home to help to speed up your recovery. If you have an exercise program prescribed for you, this can be emailed over to you in PDF format for you to print and refer to at home. If you have access to a gym or health club then exercises may be prescribed using the equipment available to you.
Can I claim back on my insurance?
You will need to check this with your insurance company.
Should I have regular massages?
Regular massages can be extremely beneficial in maintaining the effects, such as increased muscle elasticity and a decrease in aches and pains! I have many regular clients who make appointments on either a weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis. However, if you just fancy a one off treatment, you are more than welcome!
What’s the difference between Sports Massage and Swedish or Aromatherapy massage?
Sports massage is a deeper form of massage which is adapted to be specific for the individuals needs. For example, if you experience particularly tight neck muscles, then more time would be spent working on this area and less on the lower back for example. It is perfect for people who enjoy a massage, but feel that lighter forms of massage just don’t do the job!
Is sports massage painful?
Sports massage is a form of deep tissue massage and so at times substantial pressure is applied to the muscles and other soft tissues. At times this can be uncomfortable, but I always check that the pressure is ok and encourage clients to let me know if they are uncomfortable.
Can I have massage if I’m pregnant?
Sports massage can be used during pregnancy, in months 4-9. It is not recommended in the early stages of a pregnancy or on the abdomen. Once it is not possible to lay on your front, a chair massage can be performed.
What does a full body massage involve?
A full body massage lasts for approximately an hour and usually incorporates massage to the back, neck and shoulders and front and back of the legs. If required, the arms can also be included although I tend to find that most people would prefer that more attention is paid to the back and legs.
What should I do when I arrive?
Park up either at the front or back of the house. Try to ensure you do not block anybody else in. The entrance to the clinic is at the back of the property and is clearly signposted. Please let yourself in and if there is nobody waiting for you, please take a seat just inside the door.
How do I pay?
Cash or cheque is preferable.
Do you do gift vouchers?
Yes! We can offer gift vouchers for any treatment, or monetary value. These last for 6 months from the date of issue. We can post it out to you if you pay via BACS, for an additional £1.
My gift voucher expired – can I still use it?
For vouchers which expired in the last three months we are happy to offer the treatment for 50% of the usual cost. For those which expired more than 3 months ago, they are no longer valid and treatments are only offered at the usual, full price.
What if I need to cancel my appointment?
If you need to cancel your appointment, please contact your therapist directly as soon as possible. Please be aware that if you cancel with less than 24 hours notice, you will be charged a 50% cancellation fee.
